Cleaning an oven can be a bit of an arduous task at times, with stubborn grease and grime often being quite tricky to remove.
Fortunately, one savvy cleaning expert has now unveiled her preferred technique to leave your oven “sparkling” once more. Best of all, this method will apparently leave your oven just “as good as new” in just 10 minutes flat, meaning you won’t be spending your entire afternoon scrubbing away.
As previously reported by the Daily Express, Clean It, Fix It star Maxine Dwyer revealed her top tip during a recent episode of the BBC show. Cleaning guru Maxine kicked things off by removing the racks from her oven, remarking “look how dirty the racks are – I’ve seen dirtier!” She then set about warming the oven up.

Demonstrating her tried and tested method for viewers, Maxine said: “What I’m going to do is warm the oven up, once it’s warm I’m going to add in my secret ingredient to get the grease and grime off.”
First off, Maxine washed the oven racks in the sink with some kitchen degreaser, spraying this all over. Available from DIY stores and some supermarkets, kitchen degreasers are specifically designed to break down grease, and so are perfect for this sort of task.
Maxine continued: “Then I’m going to have my magic scourer, and this will work all along the racks. This works wonders! And it looks nearly as good as new – as simple as that.”

After the oven had warmed up, Maxine whipped up a simple concoction of baking powder and water, stating, “All I need to do is smear it on and wait for the magic to work.”
She explained: “So by warming the oven, it enables the active ingredients to tackle the grease, so I smear it on, all around the edges – it’s started working already. I’m going to leave it for about 10 minutes and wait for it to work.”
Returning to the oven 10 minutes later, Maxine demonstrated how one quick sweep of the scourer could lift the grime with ease, applauding, “Look at the difference! How clean is that?”
Using her scourer and damp microfibre cloth, Maxine continued scrubbing away at the grime, advising, “Take your time, and do it in a circular motion, a paste of baking powder and water and then you’ve got a sparkling clean oven.”
