Fantasy football owners are used to having top RBs and WRs listed as “questionable” leading up to games, but when one of fantasy’s best QBs and two of the best TEs are up in the air, there’s less margin for error. Heading into Week 3, Justin Herbert, George Kittle, and Dalton Schultz are all dealing with various injury issues, which in turn forces fantasy owners to be on constant alert and have alternate start ’em, sit ’em options at the ready.
Below, we’ll give you the latest news on these players and break down how their injuries could potentially affect the Week 3 fantasy landscape. For news on banged-up players

Justin Herbert injury update, Week 3 fantasy outlook
Herbert (ribs) practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday, and coach Brandon Staley referred to him as “day to day” after the star QB suffered fractured rib cartilage last Thursday night.
For now, it looks like Herbert will be ready to suit up against the Jaguars, but if he’s “questionable,” fantasy owners need to have a QB pivot from the late/prime-time games. Trevor Lawrence is the most obvious choice if you’re in one of the 43 percent of Yahoo leagues where he’s available, but after him, you’re looking at Marcus Mariota, Geno Smith, Jimmy Garoppolo, Daniel Jones, or Cooper Rush. Mariota and Smith are decent, but Herbert’s actual backup, Chase Daniel, might have similar upside.

George Kittle injury update, Week 3 fantasy outlook
Kittle (groin) is yet to suit up this season, but after starting the week with a limited practice, it appears he’s finally on track to make his 2022 debut.
Kittle is always a must-start if he’s active, so even if he plays fewer snaps than usual against Denver on Sunday night, he’s worth having in your lineup. The big worry is if he’s “questionable” since the game is in prime time. You’d likely have to choose between 49ers’ backups Ross Dwelley/Tyler Kroft, Dallas’s Jake Ferguson, the Giants’ Daniel Bellinger, and Denver’s Albert Okwuegbunam if he’s available. Ferguson might actually be your best bet (assuming Dalton Schultz is out), but Okwuegbunam has some TD upside, as well.

Dalton Schultz injury update, Week 3 fantasy outlook
Based on comments from coach Mike McCarthy and team owner Jerry Jones earlier this week, Schultz (knee) could suit up on Monday night against the Giants, but obviously he’s no sure thing.
WEEK 3 DFS LINEUPS: FanDuel | DraftKings | Yahoo
Given the lateness of the game, you’re probably better off finding a fill-in for Sunday. If you do want to wait out Schultz, you’ll need to roster either Jake Ferguson or Daniel Bellinger and be ready to make a last-minute, desperation pivot.
