Calling all McFlurry fans, you’ll want to hear this. A former McDonald’s worker has left fast food lovers amazed after sharing a DIY dessert they reckon tastes “way better than any McFlurry”. The best part: ice cream fans need not fear as the treat still includes soft serve.
The trick involves ordering two popular snacks and then enjoying the best of both worlds. So, ‘what is this delicious dessert?’ you ask. Apple pie McFlurry, at least that’s what the inventive employee dubbed it.
The bad news is that it is not as simple to order in the UK as it might be for customers visiting McDonald’s restaurants elsewhere, but all is not lost.

The brilliant suggestion caught the attention of fast food fans after a former employee shared the recommendation to Reddit’s ‘foodhacks’ forum.
“Order 1 apple pie, 1 caramel sundae, ask for the caramel sauce on the side so it doesn’t melt the ice cream. Mix it together yourself and you got an apple pie McFlurry.
“Way better than any McFlurry. I hate when I get a watery McFlurry. Not with this. So good. You’re welcome,” they wrote.
But as devoted diners will know, McDonald’s no longer sells sundaes in the UK. Thankfully, there is a workaround. Of course, you can simply order apple pie with the McFlurry of your choice.
Alternatively, you may be able to get your hands on caramel sauce if you’re visiting a McDonald’s that serves caramel iced frappes.
No matter your choice – even if you opt for McFlurry with no toppings – apple pie mixed with ice cream sounds good in our books. It just depends how adventurous you want to be.
