A woman has faced backlash from a neighbour after letting her guests park on her driveway which apparently sets a bad example. The person took to the ‘Am I Being Unreasonable?’ forum on Mumsnet to explain that everybody on her street has driveways but this makes the on street parking a nightmare.
In the post, she explained: “When we have visitors we always let them park across our driveway. To be clear, them doing this does not affect the neighbours on either side getting in or out of their own driveways.”
According to the anonymous author of the post, there is always plenty of space for the neighbours to get in and out of their driveways.

She said: “There is no overhang whatsoever and plenty of space.”
However, one of her neighbours was less than impressed when he saw that somebody had parked across the driveway, despite their being plenty of room for their car to get in and out.
The author explained: “One of my neighbours has asked me not to let visitors park across my driveway as (his words) it sets a bad example and makes other people think they can park across driveways (I’ve never seen this happen once).”
However, the author disagrees and feels she should be able to let her guests block her own driveway.
In response, some have been quick to support the author with one saying: “Politely tell him you’ll use your own driveway as you see fit.”
However, other have pointed out that even though it is your own driveway, it is technically not allowed.
One person noted: “Doesn’t matter if they are your visitor or not if they are parking across a dropped curb then they are in the wrong. I think if its a quick drop and run fine but anything more than a couple of minutes then you need to sort something else out.”
