A Christmas market shopper was so shocked at the price at the pick and mix at a Christmas market she put half of it back – but it was still an extortionate price.
Christmas markets, such as Winter Wonderland in London, are notoriously expensive, with another mum recently fuming after paying £47 for two bags of sweets.
Manchester-based rapper OneDa was equally gobsmacked after the bag of sweets she was buying for her daughter totalled a whopping £57.
OneDa, who’s real name is Onye Ezeh, took to TIkTok to prove the ‘madness’ of the Christmas market prices.
In a video where she films the scales and the normal-sized bag of pick and mix, she explains: “Guys, £26 for these sweets. How much was it before this?”

The Kingdom of Sweets shop assistant can then be heard confirming that the charge for the original bag would have been £27. OneDa then films the scales, that shows the current cost of £26.25, and exclaims: “Fifty seven pounds for sweets! So I’ve had to lower it down to £26.”
Her daughter then jokes: “It was a lot of sweets. Yes, because of me.”
OneDa captioned the video: “Madness! Even £27 is pushing it to be fair.”
Shocked social media users took to the comment section, with one person saying: “FIFTY WHATTTTTT LMAOOO with this cost of living crisis???”
Another suggested: “Walk away, leave them,” to which OneDa jibed: “I’m going to do that just for fun.”
A third added: “That’s outrageous. The fact that you still paid for it… I understand that you might’ve wanted to get them for the kids.”
Another shocked follower remarked: “B***dy ridiculous, next dentist bill.”
Many Christmas markets have been slammed for their extortionate prices this year.
A mum who visited the same Kingdom of Sweets stall at Manchester’s Christmas market was “disgraced” by the shocking value for money for her son’s £12.56 pick and mix bag.
A spokesperson from Kingdom of Sweets, the same store OneDa shopped at, said: “Our prices are clearly displayed per 100g and are comparable with other premium location retailers. Staff are trained to allow customers to leave the purchase if their selection is too heavy or take some out to bring the price down. Our own costs have risen by between 25 and 40% in the last year, but we have not increased prices.”
The Christmas markets in Manchester also recently came under fire for being too expensive and “nothing to do with” the festive season. People moaned about not being able to buy anything Christmassy, and forking out an eye-watering £9 for a hot chocolate.
Someone else said they had paid £20 for a vegan hotdog.
Meanwhile, a woman who spent £200 for an evening at Winter Wonderland said it was “absolutely worth it.
Among things she had purchased was a £7 hot chocolate, and £8 hot dog. A brief visit to the ice bar had cost £16 per person, and ice skating was priced at £15.50.
