Picking the perfect name for your child can be tricky, especially if you’ve decided to keep your baby’s gender a secret during your pregnancy and aren’t sure which moniker you’ll need when you welcome them into the world. One woman has just left people online gobsmacked after sharing a unique baby name tale her mother, who previously worked as a midwife, once told her.

Writing in a post on Quora, the unnamed person from the US, explained that while their mother had been working on a labour ward, she’d helped a woman deliver triplet girls. She claims that the expectant mother had been keen to have a baby boy and as such the only name she’d picked out was a boy’s name.

So when she gave birth to three little girls, she decided to put her name choice to good use – and gave all three girls the same name, with slight variations.

The name in question was Robert.

The post read: “My mother is a nurse who worked labour and delivery at a southern hospital during my childhood.

“One evening a very large woman showed up in labour and was admitted to my mother’s care.

“She wanted to have a son and had only selected a male name, Robert.

“Unfortunately, she did not have a son that day; she delivered triplet girls.

“Given the setback, she decided to stick with her plan. The first daughter was named Robert, the second, Larobert, and the third, Sharobert.”

Many people responded to the post, with some sharing sympathy for the little girls.

One said: “Oh, those poor girls!”

Another shared a similar situation she had faced, adding: “I worked with a girl named Janet, who had a twin named Janice. I thought it was somewhat unimaginative but she didn’t get it.”

This comes after another mum recently hoped to have a boy, but gave birth to a girl and decided to stick with her name choice.

Taking to Reddit, the mum explained that she and her partner had picked out the name Warren for a boy. Tragically her partner died before the baby was born, but the woman couldn’t bring herself to deviate from what they had planned, so she called the little girl Warren.
