Rookie Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy missed training camp practice on Monday with knee soreness.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell provided an update on McCarthy to reporters Monday night.
“Out of precaution we’re going to continue an evaluation on him and get some more testing done,” O’Connell said, per ESPN. “Very important player, obviously, so we want to make sure we’re smart before he participates, making sure we have a good understanding of where he’s at.”
The Vikings selected McCarthy in the first round out of Michigan. He completed 11 of 17 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns in his preseason debut on Saturday.
