Nvidia’s RTX 4090 Used to Run Genshin Impact at 13K Resolution

Most of us are still getting used to gaming at 4K, but one enthusiast used a GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card to get Genshin Impact running at 13K resolution.

As Tom’s Hardware reports(Opens in a new window), YouTuber Golden Reviewer decided to see how far he could increase the resolution of the popular action role-playing game using Nvidia’s latest graphics card.

The spec of the PC being used for this experiment included an Intel Core i7-10700KF, 64GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 RAM, and a Samsung 970 EVO 2TB SSD all plugged into an Asus Prime Z490-P motherboard. The graphics card is an MSI GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming X Trio 24G.

The result of Golden Reviewer’s test, as can be seen in the video above, is Genshin Impact running at a resolution of 13,760-by-5,760 (upscaled image to 13K). All the graphics settings are maxed out, and the frame rate still manages to average around 30fps.

Genshin Impact was developed to run on hardware ranging from a mobile phone right up to a high-end PC and the latest consoles, so it was never going to place a huge amount of stress on an RTX 4090. Even so, achieving what is effectively an 8.5x resolution increase over 4K is mightily impressive, especially as the game is still running fast enough to be playable.
