People are torn over a man’s video of him bracing the bitterly cold weather in nothing but shorts and balaclava – some claim it’s ‘brave’ while others say it’s ‘baffling’

As people across the country woke up to heavy snowfall across the UK this morning, many will be trying to keep warm at home as travel disruptions are causing havoc for people trying to get to work. School closures also mean that kids will be giddily wrapping up warm to head out in the snow and have some festive fun.
Anyone who does brave the outdoors will undoubtedly wrap up in an abundance of layers to fight the chill – but one man has left people gobsmacked after going for a run in heavy snow wearing nothing but a pair of shorts and a balaclava.
Taking to Instagram to share a video of himself exercising in the extreme weather, personal trainer Yusef Bouattoura – who boasts more than 63,000 followers on account @pro.pt – left viewers in complete shock as his daily grind didn’t stop despite the onslaught of snow.

In the video, which has surpassed 79,000 views since posting, the Instagrammer powered through the heavy snowfall.
Captioning the post, Yusef wrote: “I’m just having fun in my home town!
“All praise to the most high.”
The die-hard runner made sure to get his workout in as he ran alongside active vehicles on the main road.
Viewers of the viral clip took to the comment section to discuss the jaw-dropping video – and people were torn over the footage.
One person wrote “You’re brave!” while a second simply said “Legend.”
“Lucky you’ve got the hat to keep you warm,” a third joked.
On the other hand, a different user fumed: “Why? What are you trying to prove?!”
“Drivers must be baffled,” another penned.
While Instagram users joked that Yusef was “brave” for braving the weather while wearing next-to-nothing – experts have advised against running in the weather with so little layers.
One health expert has stressed the importance of layering up in the cold weather – and it all starts with the base layer.
Dr. Caitlin Lewis, a sports medicine physician, told Health.ClevelandClinic.org : “Using moisture-wicking fabric at the base layer is super important.
She continued: “It moves the sweat away from your skin. You might not think you’ll sweat during a cold run, but that’s a misconception. It might not be as much sweat as a summer run but there will be some moisture.”
