Sausage roll fan ‘Mr Greggs’ buys bakery’s clothes and stands outside stores

Mark Andersen, 53, loves Greggs so much he owns nearly every piece of the chain’s merchandise sold in Primark and often gets stopped for pictures while showing off his bonkers look

A pastry-lover is so obsessed with Greggs he has bought almost every piece of the chain’s branded clothing from Primark – and has even been given the nickname “Mr Greggs”.

Mark Andersen loves the merchandise so much he owns three “Greggs uniforms”, which he wears regularly and proudly shows off in Liverpool.

The 53-year-old said he often goes out in his Greggs t-shirt, shorts, socks, crocs and bucket hat, and regularly visits stores in Liverpool to show the look off, Liverpool Echo reports.

Mr Anderson started buying some of the Greggs branded items in Primark shortly after the 21-piece festival collection dropped in stores on August 5. He then kept going back for more and now he has three “Greggs uniforms” he wears regularly.

He first caught the eye of Greggs staff in West Derby Road, Tuebrook while doing some shopping. When he came outside, one of the workers was holding a sausage roll and asked if they could take a picture of him outside the shop.

“I saw her standing outside the shop and I thought she was coming in, but when I left she came over to me and asked to take my picture outside. I said ‘yeah okay’ and she gave me a sausage roll,” Mr Anderson said.

“I jokingly said ‘I would love a cheese and onion pasty’ and she gave me one of them too. I then called the shop when I got home and told them I have a full uniform, so asked if they wanted me to come back the next day.”

The sausage roll fan went back the next day dressed head to toe in Greggs merchandise including a top, shorts, socks, Crocs and bucket hat. Since then he has been visiting as many Greggs as he can in Liverpool.

“I love Greggs, but I don’t have a car which makes it hard. If one is on my route I will pop my head in and ask if they want a picture of the famous Mr Greggs. I have been to Tuebrook, Old Swan, Huyton Village and the city by Lewis’s,” Mr Anderson said.

The Greggs obsessive added that people often stop him in the street for a picture while out and about in his full Greggs uniform.
