How long should a smartwatch’s battery last? The new Apple Watch Ultra claims a battery life up to 60 hours with its low-power mode enabled, but according to Garmin, that’s practically nothing.
The outdoor tech company subtweeted Apple the day after it revealed the Apple Watch Ultra (as well as the latest iterations of the iPhone, AirPods Pro, and other models of Apple Watch):
Garmin said when it announced(Opens in a new window) the Enduro 2 in August that “enhanced solar harvesting provides up to 46 days in smartwatch mode and up to 150 hours in GPS mode.” That compares favorably to Apple’s claim that the Apple Watch Ultra’s battery life can last approximately 36-60 hours.
Battery life isn’t everything, however, and MacRumors notes(Opens in a new window) that the Apple Watch Ultra’s battery is being used by a considerably larger display and more advanced sensors than the Enduro 2’s.

The Apple Watch Ultra also—perhaps surprisingly—costs less than the Enduro 2. Apple’s latest-and-greatest smartwatch is priced at $799; Garmin’s runs around $1,099.
