When you’re dating someone new, chances are you’ll make every effort to look your best as you want to impress your potential love match. Whether you treat yourself to a fresh hair cut or spend an extra few minutes on your make-up ahead of your dinner date, some people find going that extra mile can help with their confidence when opening up to someone new.

One woman was left shocked when the man she’s dating called her ‘gross’ for having hair on her toes – something she’d never really noticed before until he mentioned it. She considers herself to be well-groomed, but the man was completely turned off by what she describes as ‘light toe fuzz’, thus ruining the date between the pair.

Taking to Reddit to reveal the dating blunder, the woman explained: “I (33F) went on a second date with a guy last night. We’ve been talking for a bit and the first date went really well so I was looking forward to a second date to see where things go.

“At first everything started out great. We had dinner at a good restaurant, good conversation and then went back to my place. We were sitting beside each other on my couch, watching a show and then he told me to put my feet in his lap.

“During dinner I was talking about how I had been on my feet a lot during the week for work and they were a little sore and he said he wanted to give me a foot rub. I am not one to turn down a foot rub”.

Explaining that she takes pride in the way her feet look, the woman continued: “Now, I always have my toes painted pretty colors [sic] and I think I have pretty decent-looking feet. No bunions, no weird toenails, no foot issues, no smelly feet. I’m not self conscious about my feet…until last night”.

The date took a turn for the worst when the man noticed the hair on the woman’s toes, as she reveals: “I have some light hair/fuzz on my toes and for some reason, that was super gross to him.

“It’s fair hair, you can barely see it (it’s invisible from a distance) but I guess it turned him off cause he asked why I didn’t shave my toes and I was so caught off guard.

“He immediately stopped rubbing my feet and mumbled it was unhygienic and a little gross that I didn’t shave my toes like I did my legs, and I said it just never occurred to me. It doesn’t bother me and it’s barely visible. I obviously wash my feet and keep them clean”.

After the awkward exchange, the pair soon parted ways, much to the frustration of the woman who felt the man’s reaction was over the top.

She said: “Cue the awkward silence and ruined mood. After both of us sitting there in silence for a bit, he mumbled something about having to get up early and I was like ‘yeah I think it’s time to call it a night’.

“Won’t be seeing him again! A potentially good match ruined over some light toe fuzz?!?!”

Hundreds of people flocked to the comments section on the Reddit post to criticise the man for complaining about the woman’s feet.

One said “That is wild. Consider it a blessing, you dodged a bullet!” while another added “Just a man child not knowing basics about the human body. The usual”.
