An incredible amount of planning goes into making sure a wedding day runs smoothly and without any hiccups. However, sometimes things can just drop out of the blue in extremely unfortunate circumstances.

This happened to bride Rachel – who discovered that she had a stye on her eye the day before her wedding, which meant she couldn’t get eyelash extensions On the morning of the big day, her eye was “swollen shut” – but whilst the idea initially seemed terrifying to approach with the eye infection, Rachel made sure to use a clever hack that made it unnoticeable.

On her TikTok channel, Rachel has kept viewers updated with her wedding planning and journey to her special day – but wasn’t expecting a stye to appear the night before.

In the video, she explained how the convenient hack helped significantly reduce the swollen eye.

Rachel explained: “I’m currently on my honeymoon right now and as you can see my eyelash extensions never happened ever – but my stye is also gone.

“I woke up the morning of the wedding with my eye swollen shut and super red.

“But after tea bags and hot cotton presses – I’ll show a before and after – the make-up artist was able to work some magic.”

Showing her viewers a series of photos, she described how at the rehearsal dinner that the stye was “so gross” – but unfortunately “got worse”.

She continued: “This is me the morning of and as you can see and you can see after doing tons of hot cotton presses and tea bags, I was trying to get my eye out of all picture but you can still see that it’s noticeably swollen.

“The make-up girl worked some magic – but you can still see that it’s squinty.

“But I think she glued my eyelashes a little higher – but it was still a bit squinty.

“I told my wedding photographer that I wanted to avoid that eye as much as possible in pictures, so this is the start of some of the wedding pictures but as the day went on it settled down and it wasn’t as puffy and wasn’t as swollen.

“It looked better in a lot of the pictures, I think she avoided that side or she didn’t send me the ones where the stye looked bad.”

Towards the end of the wedding, Rachel’s photographer was able to capture images with both her eyes were open – and the stye looked as if it has disappeared.

“I think I’m just fixated on it because my husband said it’s not bad,” she added.

Sharing positivity in the comment section, several budding TikTokers shared their reaction to the beautiful photos – with some even sharing nightmare wedding experiences of their own.

One user joked: “You’ll look back in 20 years and think of the funny story but also how see how beautiful you looked.”

“Honey if it makes you feel better my wedding was two weeks ago and i dislocated my knee 30 minutes before my ceremony lol,” another added.

“It was hidden very well,” a third wrote.

A fourth commented: “Looking at the pictures you could not even tell! Your pictures are fabulous and you looked gorgeous!!!!”
