Woman fumes at ‘pathetic’ neighbours for two-car system to save roadside parking space

Tasha Bonner has branded her neighbours as ‘pathetic’ for their system that ensures the space outside their house is always free – despite having a drive for two cars

If you don’t have a driveway, then you’ll know how much of a pain it can be to find roadside parking directly outside of your house at times, especially if you live on a busy street where each house has more than one vehicle. But one woman has been left baffled by the system that her neighbours have put in place to make sure the space outside their house is never taken – especially as they already have a driveway big enough for two cars.

Tasha Bonner filmed a video of the interesting parking method which has gone viral on social media, as she branded their actions as “pathetic” and “sad”. Instead of using the big driveway they already own, they park one of their cars on the road in front of their house and then whenever that car wants to leave, they move their other car into that space, leaving their driveway empty and continuing to save the spot in front of their property.

The woman, from Kent, explained the situation in two videos on her TikTok account @tashabonner11, with the first showing the parking system in action as one car leaves the area and the second car immediately pulls up into the space.

She wrote on the clip: “When your neighbours won’t allow anyone to park in this space. The brown car [is] about to pounce.”

Tasha then said the two cars – which are owned by a “father and son duo” – work together like a “double act” to make sure they’re always parked in the space so that no one else can use it – even if it means they’re not using their drive.

In the caption, the woman used a series of hashtags including ones for “sad neighbours”, “pathetic humans”, “pathetic neighbours”, “bad neighbours”, and “parking drama”.

Tasha later spoke to Mail Online about her video, stating that her neighbours are “obsessed” with the roadside parking outside of their house, and claimed that dad doesn’t let his son leave if he isn’t around to move the other car into the space.

She said: “I think it’s comical and sad that they are so obsessed with this despite having a drive for two cars and ample space up the road. They both live there so they swap cars to keep that space ‘saved’ at all times.

“It’s the biggest stress of [the dad’s] life. The son wouldn’t be able to leave if he wasn’t there to move the brown car.”

And if Tasha’s comment section on TikTok is anything to go by, her neighbours aren’t the only people who employ similar tactics, as several people replied to the woman’s video saying they have neighbours who do the same thing.

One person said: “My boyfriend’s neighbour does exactly the same! We have 4 cars coming and going, they have two and stay at home all day … it’s so selfish and pathetic!”

While another added: “My neighbour does the same … her son lives at the top of our estate but he parks in her driveway so then she has an excuse to park on the road.”

And a third wrote: “Someone by me does this and it’s incredibly funny to take the spot just because [I can]. I deliver shopping and even took the spot when delivering to someone on my road and she blocked the work van in expecting something to happen.”

But some defended the pair, saying there was nothing wrong with their parking system as it wasn’t blocking anyone’s driveway or preventing people from using the road.

Someone said: “I don’t get what the issue is. If someone is outside my house I will move my car when they leave. I like to be able to see my car.”

As someone else posted: “So they are parking their car outside their house? And?”
