A woman has been slated online for feeding her pet dog leftovers from the meal her boyfriend cooked her. She was on a date with her partner of four months, and decided to plate up some of the leftover meat and vegetables from their homemade roast dinner to give to her pooch, Shelby.
But her boyfriend, Jay, wasn’t happy about it and took the food away before kicking her out of the house. Fellow Reddit users have criticised the woman’s actions and labelled her “entitled” and “rude” for not asking Jay’s permission to feed her dog the special meal he had prepared for her.

Her viral post on Reddit has been upvoted more than 16,000 times with people agreeing that she shouldn’t have made herself so comfortable in his home.
The woman explained: “He made us a roast and some vegetables for dinner. I finished my plate before Jay did and took it to the kitchen.
“There was still about half the roast left and it was close to Shelby’s dinner time so I took half of the roast and some still raw vegetables from the fridge to put on a plate for Shelby.
“Jay said something like ‘well that’s not dog food’. I opened the door to put the plate down for Shelby and Jay got up, took the plate away from her, went to the kitchen and came back with it wrapped up in tinfoil and told me to leave.
“His excuse was that he made dinner for me and him, not me, him, and my dog and that I should’ve asked before I helped myself since he would’ve used his leftovers.

“I did leave but not before telling him that he made that meal for us so I could do with some of it as I pleased and he knew damn well how I feed Shelby.”
The woman added an update to say she has since been dumped by Jay as he couldn’t get over her “doing things without asking first”.
Reddit users praised the boyfriend for his decision to end the relationship following her actions.
Someone wrote: “Your (now ex-) boyfriend made a special meal for you. You took a large hunk of that special meal and gave it to your dog. You should have brought dog food to feed Shelby.”
Another commented: “Roasts are expensive, groceries in general are expensive! You didn’t even bother to ask if he minded if you feed your dog. You aren’t entitled to food you didn’t pay for or make.”
A third agreed: “You have been dating him for four months. You were a guest in his home. And you made a plate of leftover roast for your dog without asking?! Do you even understand boundaries?”
