With the upcoming release of new Netflix series Wednesday, all eyes have once again turned on everybody’s favourite goth. Wednesday Addams is an icon, after all. With her deadpan humour and chilling one-liners, there is nobody quite like her.
Whether you fell in love with her in The Addams Family sitcom or Barry Sonnenfeld’s cult film, it is hard not see her appeal. But there’s one fan who may love her more than most, as he wanted to name his daughter after the character. And not content with giving her Wednesday’s first name, he wanted her to adopt the iconic surname too.

The father’s wish was revealed by his wife amid the mounting hype for the new series. Commenting on one of Netflix’s promotional videos for the show, which features Tim Burton at the helm, she shared the hilarious tale.
In her response, the mum, who has the the surname “Adams”, claimed: “My husband insisted we name our daughter, Wednesday.”
But in what was probably a lucky move for the child, the woman eventually convinced her partner to change his mind.
She explained: “He wanted it as her first name, which I did not allow so its her middle name and he went so far as to try to talk me into letting her spell her last name, ADDAMS.”
Her daughter did receive a similar surname, though, as she took on her mum’s.

“I was like nope, LOL but her last name is Adams,” the parent revealed.
And it sounds like her partner is not the only fan who took inspiration from the character.
Another mum revealed: “We were going to give our daughter the middle name Wednesday but she was born super blond with blue eyes and it just didn’t fit.”
“I love that your daughter is Wednesday Adams,” she added.
A different commenter said: “My name is Wenzday too! Just spelled different. I’ve always been a huge fan.”
