Keeping mould away is a really difficult task – one minute something looks clean, and the next there’s mould lining the walls and you don’t know what to do about it. Bathrooms and basements often seem to be hot spots for mould, so keeping a close eye on those areas is vital. However, Mrs Hinch fans have come up with a cheap and cheerful solution to keeping the mould at bay.
The cleaning enthusiasts have highlighted a budget item that gets rid of mould in an instant, after someone asked on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group about stubborn spots on her bathroom tiles that wouldn’t budge despite her best efforts . They recommend Astonish’s Mould and Mildew Blaster, which comes with a lovely apple scent – smelling much more pleasant than the usual mould and mildew sprays.

The spray is described by the company as “the UK’s number one mould and mildew remover”, and it can be purchased in all supermarkets.
At just £1.25, each spray roughly works out as less than a penny which makes the product a steal and makes it well worth the investment – it’s also much cheaper than competitors, with some sprays coming in at almost £4.
The spray can be used on all surfaces, including fabric, silicone sealant and sinks, as well as windows and walls which may succumb to mould more easily. With winter months approaching and mould season nearly upon us, windows will be closed more leading to less ventilation, causing mould to thrive in damp areas.
When asked how best to remove mould, one person wrote: “Astonish Mould and Mildew is fantastic – get a brush, especially for scrubbing (it more or less looks like an oversized toothbrush), spray the mould remover and scrub with the brush straight away and keep repeating – and it really works, believe me I know.”
Another commented: “Astonish Mould and Mildew spray… spray on liberally, leave for a few hours then rinse off wiping with a sponge, brought mine up lovely.”
“Astonish Mould and Mildew Spray is brilliant. I also use a grouting pen to freshen up the look after it’s been cleaned and dried”, said another.
