Sometimes, you can forget to clean your mirrors, despite the fact you stare into them probably multiple times a day. When you do decide to clean them though, it can be hard to get the glass looking streak free and perfect.
Thankfully, one cleaning guru has shared a fantastic hack to keep your mirrors looking clean and ridding them of any unwanted stains with a kitchen staple – and it’ll cost you less than 20p.
Jimmy and Laura Astuces, known on Instagram as @jimmy_decom shared the handy life hack online with their followers, and the video shows Laura rubbing a potato on a mirror.

In the video, Laura cuts the end off a potato and then takes it into her bathroom, where the mirror inevitably has some splash marks on it from its positioning.
She then rubs the potato all over the mirror, and the water spreads out across the glass.
When Laura then rubs off the water with a cloth, the mirror appears to be streak free, but not just that – when she pours a glass of water onto the mirror, it almost seems as though the potato has made her mirror ‘waterproof’ as the water doesn’t stick to the glass.
In the comments, people had mixed feelings, with some praising the hack and others saying food was too expensive to use to clean up.
One wrote: “Not with these inflated food prices.”
Another asked: “But how does one discover this in the first place?”
Someone else suggested using other methods, commenting: “The soap also works well and against fogging!”
Multiple people asked whether the method also worked on car windows as it could save drivers time if so.
Someone jibed: “Food waste”, followed by an unimpressed emoji. They continued: “It’s better to do it with the skin of the potato, right?”
“First off I am not wasting a good potato”, another joked.
