Fussy bride slammed after forcing bridesmaids to remove engagement rings for her wedding

Desperate to keep the ‘spotlight on her’, the bride forced the bridal party to take their jewellery off so her rock could shine – many people have shared their shock at the niche request, but the bridesmaids wanted to keep the peace on the day

Weddings should be a time of sheer joy and celebration, as family and friends come together to champion the loved-up couple and their pledge to each other. Unfortunately, the pressures of creating the perfect day can throw a spanner in the works, as the true meaning of marriage can get lost amidst a fixation on dress codes, guestlists and strict wedding rules.

Guests who defy a bride and groom’s rules can find themselves ostracised from the day all together, or if they are in attendance, tensions can spill over into nasty spats that spoil the big day. Even when a bride’s requests seem unusual or unfair, some people prefer to simply suck it up and accept that it’s her decision, to avoid any bad blood between them.

One bride has enforced a bizarre rule for her special day that’s left her bridal party aghast. Desperate to keep the status quo, the bridesmaids have kept schtum over the ordeal, but one of them took to the social media platform Reddit to share the unusual request.

In the Reddit post, the anonymous bridesmaid explained that the bride’s wishes left her shocked, but insisted it wasn’t ‘worth the drama’ to convey her feelings to her friend on the matter.

She explained: “I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the bride sent a ‘wedding update’ email to her eight bridesmaids about a week out, saying (among other things) that she didn’t want us married bridesmaids to wear our engagement rings, only our wedding bands”.

In a bid to decipher the bride’s reasoning for such a strange request, the bridesmaid continued: “She said it would help ‘spotlight’ her rings for ‘wedding photo purposes’.

“My guess is that she wanted her diamond to be the star of the show…but the weird thing is

her ring was so much bigger than the rest of ours anyway – almost 3 carats! Super weird”.

While braver bridal parties may have openly shown their disdain for the wedding rule, the bridesmaid explained that they collectively wanted to avoid the hassle.

“All of us bridesmaids complied, because it wasn’t worth the drama, except for one who had her band and engagement ring soldered together,” the post revealed.

This justification wasn’t enough for the bride, who then put even stricter measures in place for the woman with the soldered rings: “The bride asked her to turn the stone around so it was inside her hand during the wedding”.

The bridesmaid’s experience has riled up plenty of Reddit users who flooded to the comments to share their anger at the wedding rule.

One person said: “It continues to astound me how petty and superficial people can become during their ‘special day'”.

Another commenter wrote: “When I got married something like this never even crossed my mind. What in the world?!?”.

One Reddit user slammed the bride’s decision, saying: “For the purpose of being in total control they destroy so many of their relationships.

“It’s also stupid because no one can really ‘outshine’ the bride during a wedding. They may compete for attention, but it’s the bride and groom front and center [sic]”.
