When you work in a customer-facing role, some silly questions or statements can get slightly irritating and test even the most patient of people. Anyone who has ever been told ‘oh it must be free’ when it won’t scan correctly will roll their eyes at the memory, and there are many other ‘frequently used phrases’ from shoppers which may grind gears.

But still, you keep a professional smile on your face and do your job to the best of your ability. One Christmas tree farmer has hilariously taken to TikTok, however, to document some of the most infuriating things that get said to him in the run-up to Christmas.

George, who posts on TikTok as @georg3lipps role-played some interactions, captioning the video: “I’m a people person as you can tell.”

He role-played a scenario where he was telling the customer how much the tree would be.

He said: “So, that’ll be £55, please.”

“Er, I’ve got cash, so call it £40?”, the ‘customer’ cheekily responded.

George sarcastically responded: “Because you’re paying in cash, I’m actually going to give you the tree for free as you’re such a legend.”

He also role-played other frequent interactions – there was one where he had to explain that the customer doesn’t get to cut down their own Christmas tree, as they’re grown elsewhere.

Another showed an instance where someone thought he’d ‘remember’ that they got a potted tree the year before, so the customer was wondering why they didn’t have any this year, which baffled George.

Someone else asked George to ‘listen to him’ when referring to their three-year-old son, as they wanted him to choose their tree.

In the comments, people found the interactions hilarious, with people who have worked in similar roles relating.

One asked a valid question: “Why do people think cash means you get it cheaper?”

“I work in a garage and the cash one is true”, another agreed.

A TikToker related to the video as they wrote: “Hahaha I sell trees too and know exactly what you’re on about aha.”

“The general public ladies and gents”, someone else joked.

George decided to do hilarious follow-up videos showing more funny scenarios including haggling customers, customers cheekily asking for discounts, and even some people asking if they could put their child through the Christmas tree netter, to which he simply replied ‘no’.
