The distraught mum claimed that the technician cut off her natural lashes to glue the artificial ones on – and it got worse because when they were stuck on, they glued her eyes shut when she tried to blink.

She said: “She charged me £25. She cut my natural eyelashes off causing me to have hardly any eyelashes at all!”

Not only that, but she was told by a doctor that due to the procedure she has conjunctivitis, an inflammation of the outermost layer of the white part of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelid.

It can make the eye appear pink or red-ish and can usually cause pain, burning, scratchiness, or itchiness – not quite the birthday treat the mum had hoped for.

The most common causes of the disease are viral or bacterial. In some instances, it may be caused by allergies – but the woman is adamant it was caused by the lash treatment.

She said: “My eyes are itching and yellow gunk is coming out too it’s really itchy and I have to go to the doctors for medication.”

After the whole ordeal, the woman has said she no longer wants her money back, despite initially wanting a refund.

She said: “When I told the boss which is the one who did it, I got told I’d done it myself and I wouldn’t be able to have a refund. Then I posted on Facebook and they told me to take it down or I will not get my refund.

“At this point I don’t and will not want a refund as I have infections in my eyes. She was really rude blocked me then unblocked me.”

YorkshireLive contacted the salon for comment. The business declined to comment.
