A food blogging mum has revealed her ultimate Christmas leftovers sandwich – and in true 2022 style, it’s toasted to perfection in an air fryer.
Emily, who is based in London and posts recipes online, says she creates a festive sandwich each year, but nothing tops her ‘beast’ creation that has an extra special slice of bread in the middle that is drenched in gravy.
The mum-of-two shared a video of her making the creation on social media, and it’s now racked up more than 800,000 views on her TikTok @emilyscooking_. Emily is shown layering bread, butter, mayo, lettuce, bacon, stuffing, turkey, cranberry sauce, and gravy, with mozzarella and cheddar on top, sprinkled with sage.

“Every Christmas I always cook extra so I don’t have to cook for a few days, in that way I can enjoy the festive season rather than being in the kitchen,” Emily wrote on her Instagram post.
“There’s always a competition with the best Christmas sandwich and I’ve tried many but nothing beats this beast!
“One thing I always make with leftovers is a MEGA toastie, there’s no order in how you assemble it but one thing that is a must is the extra slice of bread in the middle, drenched in gravy!
“It makes this toastie extra delicious and tasty! I think I’ll share another reel tomorrow because it’s that good”.
Once she has added all of the fillings, she tops it off with grated cheese and pops it in her air fryer at 200°C for about 5-10 minutes – depending on how toasted you want it.
Once it’s out of the air fryer, Emily cuts into the crispy sandwich and pours even more steaming gravy on top.
The recipe has left people on social media drooling, with one commenting: “This made me so hungry” and a TikTok user responding: “I am extremely attracted to this sandwich”.
Another wrote: “How did we all cope before the air fryer”.
A third foodie said: “Wow! 100% making this”.
Meanwhile, others suggested swapping out lettuce for cabbage to make use of more leftovers from the big Christmas dinner.
You could also add Brussels sprouts or pigs in blankets – but don’t forget that gravy-coated middle layer.
